FINAL POST!

I did learn a few things in the class that I am taking in regards to social media because I am a US ARMY Veteran taking a few classes at Mira Costa using the Holy GI Bill and Post 9/11 GI Bill.
As I have said before a lot of the sites we did review and go over do not really relate to Americans
like myself that are trying to break into the music industry because a lot of the sites we did review
do not let you upload your videos or upload your music.
I did get a solid business idea as I have stated before about using constant-contact or another monthly
e-mail newsletter because a weekly or a monthly newsletter is an outstanding business idea for
my start-up business named:
AMERICAN VETERAN PRODUCTIONS.
We really did not go into great detail about you-tube and myspace and reverb-nation and a lot of
other sites that only deal with music but that is ok because some of the other sites that we did
talk about I can use them for advertising musical songs if and when I ever get the financial budget
to run my business full-time!
One of my songs and videos below as you know is called "Soldiers Do Cry" and trying to advertise
for that song and trying to promote that song needs in many ways to be stream-lined to sites
where musicians and engineers and producers and song-writers go to and once again here is the video
for the song:

The monthly newsletter idea or the weekly newsletter idea that you talked about in the class
as I stated above is one of the business ideas that I will take with me as I continue to be
an Army Veteran and a small business owner.
Every business owner is different in some-ways and a lot of the sites that we did talk about
our late to the music scene so I don't really think about them a lot because they are not the respected
names in the music industry.
What I did get from the class is to be constantly using some form of social media to advertise and to
promote your business so I will keep social media on my brain and use different sites to promote
what I am working on in regards to AMERICAN VETERAN PRODUCTIONS!

AMERICAN VETERAN PRODUCTIONS

As the owner of American Veteran productions I use a few different sites that we did not
really cover in the class to promote my musical songs and musical videos. As I have stated
before I use Myspace and Reverb-nation a lot because they are recognized as two of the industry
leaders where musicians and musical producers and engineers do connect with each other. Some
of the sites we have used thus far do not allow me to upload music and upload music videos so
I will use the sites only to promote my latest works. The one idea as I have mentioned before that we covered in the class that I will implement into my plan is the idea of using the monthly e-mail
newsletter from the site at:
Constant Contact
Some of the sites we have covered in the class like Twitter, Linkedin, Pinterest and Instagram
are not sites considered by musicians as the industry leaders related to music but the sites can
help in promoting the latest projects of musicians so I will keep them all in mind as I finish each
music video I am working on.
Only a few sites like You-Tube allow you to upload your music song and your music video
so I will continue to focus a lot of my time using the options that You-Tube has for musical singers
and musical song-writers. Once I am done uploading my musical songs and music videos on You-Tube I can then use most of the other social media tools we have discussed to post a new message that I have a new musical project that has been released.
I have a day job paying my bills like most over-taxed Americans so I can only spend a minimal
amount of time on my start up business named American Veteran Productions. If I ever get
blessed and can run my business full-time I will spend 12 hours a day and most days of the week
promoting my latest musical releases using most of the sites we have covered thus far in the class.
Besides trying to find new customers to buy your product there is no other task you or I should
be doing except for promoting our business. If I had 12 hours a day to work on social media advertising I would spend the majority of my day using most every major social media outlets
that are available on the world wide web.
As for now because I have a day job and because my budget is horrible I can maybe spend an
hour or two most days finishing up projects, and then trying to promote them using the various
social media sites that we have access to here in the year of 2013!
I have chosen to use Myspace and You-Tube because they allow me to upload musical videos
and musical songs, and not every-site we have covered allows you to upload a musical video.
If I have time in the next month GOD willing and CHRIST willing I will dedicate a lot of my time
to my song called:
SOLDIERS DO CRY

My time that I can spend on the project might be limited because I have a day job but if I do
get time I will finish signing up for my monthly e-mail advertising account; and I will begin
advertising by using my monthly newsletter sending out my newsletter to every person
that I know in the music industry.
I don't blog as a part of my business because I only blog for fun so scheduling out blog posts
has nothing to do with my business plan.
A lot of my social media advertising plan will be linked to my monthly newsletter because if the right
person in the music industry likes the songs that I have included in my monthly newsletter I will
not need to advertise a lot because the music industry has power-full advertising budgets once they decide that they like a song and a music video.

Blogs I did comment on

Here are the blogs that I did comment on:

Class Review

As the owner of a music publishing company and the owner of a song-writing company some of
the material we did cover in the class really does relate to my business but that is ok
because some of the sites we reviewed gave me an idea or two.
As I did say in a previous post here are the main sites I use to contact with other singers and song-writers
and music publishers:
www.myspace.com/kevinmichaelferguson
www.americanveteranproductions.com
www.reverbnation.com/brainmenders
http://thenashvilleuniverse.com/profile/KEVINMICHAELFERGUSON

Reverb-Nation and Myspace are huge sites for music makers to connect with each other and to exchange
material with each other.
After we reviewed Twitter and a few of the other sites they have no way to upload music and upload
music videos and that is the main part of my business.
The one idea that you did have that I did like that works for my business and any business is the monthly
e-mail advertising idea:
http://www.constantcontact.com/index.jsp
As I said in a previous post:
As the owner of American Veteran Productions I do see a certain benefit of having a monthly newsletter.
I could let music publishers and let music engineers know and let musical singers know what projects I have completed.
I did enjoy trying out the constant-contact monthly e-mail advertising, and it is the one idea from this class
that I can take with me in regards to using the e-mail advertising on a weekly or monthly basis.
I can use Twitter and some of the other sites we discussed on a less frequent basis because I don't make
Music Videos every-day so when I do make a new Music Video I can use Twitter and some of the other
sites to send a message and link to my latest project.

You-Tube is a big forum for music makers and it would be nice at least for music business
owners in the class if it was covered more so that music business owners can work
on projects that would help their business out.
Like I said I did enjoy talking about the monthly or weekly newsletter idea so I will implement
that into part of my business plan.

Face-Book analytics

As you know I have no respect for Face-Book and their owners
so I only check my account in regards to assignments for this
Post 9/11 G.I. Bill class that I am taking at Mira Costa.
I did review the activity for the week for my site on Face-Book
dealing with my business American Veteran Productions.
I did review the analytics and the insights area on my account,
and there was no new activity.
The lack of activity on my Face-Book account I am not concerned with
because I have other sites that I use to promote my song-writing
and music publishing company.
When I did review my Face-Book page I did not see a single note
or a change in activity in any-way, and that is most likely because I seldom log into that account and put any work in on that site.
Here are my main sites that I use to promote my business:
www.myspace.com/kevinmichaelferguson
www.americanveteranproductions.com
www.reverbnation.com/brainmenders
http://thenashvilleuniverse.com/profile/KEVINMICHAELFERGUSON

The business of running a music song-writing company is different in some ways
than other business types in America, and in many ways my business is the same.
I need one singer to love one of my songs and that is all I need or I need one huge music
publisher to love one of my songs and that is all I need.
Face-Book is late to the music party because a lot of company's have been around for over
40 years in regards to music.
Face-Book is not recognized as the industry leader in regards to music and that is one of the
many reasons I don't use their site so I was not shocked to see a lack of activity on my
account this week.
I am not slightly concerned about my lack of activity on Face-Book because I have all of
my songs uploaded all over the internet and now I need to find the right connection
in the music industry to get one of those songs in a Movie, TV show, or on the Radio.

This video above for "SOLDIERS DO CRY" is the main part of my business day when
I get free time from my day job.
Of all the ideas we have worked on in the class the one that makes the most sense for my
business is your monthly e-mail advertising idea because I can send a monthly e-mail with video
links directly to music publishers and to singers and music producers and music engineers.
My lack of activity this week on Face-Book I am not stressing about it because I know
my other web-sites have finished projects that singers can look at and all I need is one
singer to love "SOLDIERS DO CRY" or one of my other songs.
I e-mail singers directly and I e-mail music publishers directly in hopes that they will take
one of my songs for their projects.

Google Business Analytics

A lot of people don't understand the business dynamics of a musical-song writer's life as a small
business owner and that advertising is extremely un-important in many ways because a musical song-writer has one business focus at times and it is as follows:
find a singer and a music publisher that loves the song you did write.
Singers and music publishers can be sent an e-mail directly and they could care less if you have certain
Google features or other advertising features from other company's.
I don't think a lot about Google Business Analytics because they let me upload my music videos and
music songs for free as long as I pay my Verizon Internet Bill as I have stated before.
The videos I do have online I send direct messages to singers and music publishers to see if
they will listen to the song that I have written.
Here is what I did find while doing some research about Google Business Analytics
and I found the information directly from their web-site about
Why AdSense:
"Protect the value of your brand and make sure your users have a positive experience by choosing how ads are displayed on your site. You can block those you don’t want to appear, and manage how your ads are shown by choosing which ad formats you'd like to accept. You can also customize the look and feel of your ads to match your site".
If I could find advertisers that wanted to be on my web-sites that would be incredible as long as I had control over who I allowed on my site and Google allows you to control who is on your site and I did find this
information some-what interesting on Google's business analytics page:
"Access Google's vast advertiser pool without having to maintain individual relationships.
More advertisers means:
  • More competition for your ad spaces
  • More relevant ads
  • Ads for all your online content"
If I could get advertisers vying for spots on my web-page I might cry tears of joy and I know
I would thank Almighty GOD and Jesus Christ for the revenues that advertisers could
make for my business:
AMERICAN VETERAN PRODUCTIONS

I will continue to look at ways to improve by business model and Google might have a few
ideas that I can use including those mentioned above.

American Veteran Productions Coupon idea

For my business American Veteran Productions I had never really thought about using a coupon
because I am trying to sell songs to movie directors and movie owners and people that place
songs into TV shows or I am trying to find the right singer for the song.
Music publishers that I am trying to sell the song to don't work on a coupon basis, and quite
frankly they don't care about a coupon because all they want from a song-writer is a quality song
that they know is worth advertising and promoting.
For a lot of business groups including restaurant owners coupons do work.
For a business owner that owns a music song-writing company like me coupons are not the focal point of the business.
If I had merchandising that I did sell I could use a coupon that could be linked to an album of my songs
but I don't have any merchandising right now to sell.
Here is where '"SOLDIERS DO CRY" is for sale at the following link:
http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/nedgray2

I have uploaded the song for free on you-tube and many other sites, and the song is for sale
at the above CDBABY link for .99 cents.
A coupon on a .99 cent download most likely will not work especially since I already have
the song able to be downloaded for free so that music publishers can quickly hear the song for free.
What could work for me rather than a coupon is to offer a percentage of my sales to the following:
1. http://www.wish.org
2. http://www.feedthechildren.org

Coupons are a great idea for most business groups; and if I ever get merchandising to sell
and an entire album of songs I will think about the idea of using some type of coupon.
If I sell one of my songs that I did write to a music publisher their company at that point will
make an advertising campaign for the song because that is how part of the music industry does work.
Once I sell one of my songs I lose a lot of rights to the song so using a coupon for me right now
doesn't make a lot of sense but like I said I can use the idea of making sure a certain amount
of the profits I make go to a worth charity group.

AMERICAN VETERAN PRODUCTIONS

As I have said before for people trying to break into the music industry there are a lot of sites
that we have not reviewed in-depthly up to this point; and the music business has been around
for over 40 years that I can remember.
Here are some of the major sites in regards to music and the business of promoting music
that we have not touched on thus far:
1. www.myspace.com
2. www.reverbnation.com
3. www.sonicbids.com
4. http://www.livenation.com

Every business is unique and different and so a lot of the sites we have reviewed are not
the type of sites music business owners think about but for the most part that is okay.
Music business owners use a lot of different sites and some of those sites only deal with
people that are:
record label owners, song-writers, engineers, music producers, singers and other people that are
involved with the music industry.
The above sites that I have mentioned help me promote for free; and I can view my activity or lack
of activity as long as I pay my internet bill of about $85.00 a month with Verizon.
If one of the above sites where I have my songs posted ever had the right person with business
connections and music connections view my songs and like them my life
would change drastically here in the year of 2013.
All of the above mentioned sites deal only with music for the most part and that is the sites I use at times
because I am the owner of:
American Veteran Productions.
One of my songs as you know called "SOLDIERS DO CRY" is posted on most major music
sites and if the right person ever loved one of my songs and wanted to place the song in
a movie or a TV show I would cry and thank:
Almighty GOD and Jesus Christ!

FREE ADVERTISING FOR AMERICAN VETERAN PRODUCTIONS (AVP)

Many business groups have outlets where they can use free advertising, and my business is no different as the owner of American Veteran Productions.
For musical song-writers and musical singers in these times in the year of 2013 all you have to do
is upload your song to the sites for free and make an e-mail list sending out information to the
people you are tying to contact and here are a few sites that I use:
1. www.myspace.com/kevinmichaelferguson
2. www.reverbnation.com/brainmenders
3. Craigslist

I use myspace and reverb-nation myself because in regards to musical websites myspace was one of the first company's to really help musical song-writers and musical singers.
Every business is different and for some business groups myspace is useless to them but for
musical singers and musical performers myspace is one of the most power-full free advertising
business tools that we can use.
If you ever type in the musical section of Craigslist you would be amazed at the amount of musical ads that are placed for free in most every city so if you are trying to enter into the music business it is a wise idea to check out Craigslist under their musical section.
If you have never tried to use Craigslist as a musician you are making a mistake because Craigslist lets you post ads for free if they are not offensive but they have a terrible flaw in their system  where some idiot can flag your advertisement because they are being stupid and childish.
If you have not checked out reverb-nation and you are trying to get into the music business
you should because reverb-nation lets you post your musical songs and musical videos up for
free and I keep mentioning them in these posts because reverb-nation only deals with music
where some of these sites you go to have all kinds of business groups they are into.
Google's purchase of You-Tube about seven years ago for about 1.7 billion dollars was one of
the most brilliant business moves in the history of America and a lot of company' that were
more power-full than Google at the time are wishing they did buy you-tube.
I use the You-Tube site to upload my videos and musical songs for free and as I have stated
before all I have to do at that point is run a e-mail advertising free newsletter monthly
directing music publishers and singers and other writers and producers
where my links are because links in an e-mail are a power-full business idea that one should use.
It all depends what type of business you are going to try but for my business
if I need free advertising I will use the combination of all the sites where my music is posted for
free and a free e-mail advertising monthly newsletter.
As you know I don't use Face-book because I don't respect them nor do I agree with
their company morals and values because they are arrogant and sin-full non-veteran
scum-bags but they do have ways for a business owner to use free advertising
because first of all your entire page link on Face-book is free advertising
and you can make events and adjust your page to send out a call to action by letting others
know what you are working on or what new event or promotion you are running.

SOLDIERS DO CRY ADVERTISING

I hope this works my advertising plan for my song called "SOLDIERS DO CRY" so you all can take a listen to a song that I do own that can be placed into a movie like I said before and the movie examples are:
Pearl Harbor
Born On The 4th Of July
The Green Zone
The Hurt Locker
Jar-head
Zero Dark Thirty
Full Metal Jacket
Good Morning Vietnam
Lions For Lambs

Face-book is not my first choice for advertising my song because I don't respect Face-book, and also because they are not the industry leaders for musicians.
I have plenty of ways that I can advertise "Soldiers Do Cry" through myspace or www.reverbnation.com but as most of you know their advertising is not free.
One of my best routes of advertising right now is through You-Tube because You-Tube is recognized as the industry leader for brand new musicians and established musicians to post their work and my song can be found at:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IM01u66mT6U
If I could afford a side ad or a banner ad I would place them on You-Tube or another site that only deals with music but as for right now we are paying the wages of all of our sold-out politicians who don't deserve their pay so placing an ad on the Internet is at least right now out of the question for the project that I am working on.
You-Tube and Myspace let's you post your work for free on their web-site, and so now I need to find a way to drive web traffic to my site that is on You-Tube and Myspace and ReverbNation.
Really for this project I actually don't need a lot of web-site traffic because all I need is one music publisher to like the song that I own, and they will pay for the advertising so here is one of the music publishers that I will make aware of the project that I am working on:
http://www.bluewatermusic.com
I did contact the above music publisher and they won't listen to my songs so another one of my plans is to try and find a singer that is not established yet that needs their first hit song and thankfully music sites are filled with singers who have no hit song of their own.
If I can convince a music publisher to take a listen to the song I own that is already finished and posted on You-Tube and Reverb-Nation and Myspace that is more power-full than placing a side-ad or a banner ad on Face-book or most any other site but the problem is most of the time music publishers are extremely busy people and extremely arrogant people.
Face-book in regards to my project would not help out as much as the following site below that deals with trying to help out the American Troops and if I could convince them to promote the song it would help out tremendously:
http://www.operationgratitude.com
If I could convince operation-gratitute to place my song on their web-site it might be a more power-full advertising tool then trying to pay for Face-Book ads or You-Tube ads because I am not sure some people are aware how expensive certain internet advertising is.
Banner ads or other ads being placed on Twitter or Face-Book or You-Tube are a swell idea but like most of you I don't make about $318,000 a year like the scum-bags Biden and Obama make so banner style ads right now for the most part are out of the question.
An e-mail advertising plan can work right now so I will continue using this site below or another site below:
www.constantcontact.com
Some people that have never tried to run a music business do not understand the music industry so I have to explain it to them.
Rather than placing banner ads on Twitter or Facebook or You-Tube or other sites it at times is better to try and run an e-mail advertising plan that directly links you with record labels or record producers or singers or music publishers.
Constant-Contact or other sites that deal with e-mail advertising is one of the directions I need to head because each person I send an e-mail to is in the music industry and their only job is to find the next hit song that America will love.
A lot of people that have never tried to be a musical song-writer do not understand the process of trying to get your song noticed, and they don't understand that finding the right singer or the right publisher is one of the most critical steps in the entire advertising process.
If I can convince an established singer to sing my song called "Soldiers Do Cry" their music label would be more than happy to pay for all the advertising to promote the song that their singer loves.
As far as Face-Book is concerned they have a few different ways that you or I can pay to advertise on their site and here is a quote from their site:
"Yes, it costs money to run ads and sponsored stories on Facebook, just as it does to run ads in your local newspaper. Advertisers are in control of how much they spend by setting a daily or lifetime budget".
Here is another quote off of the Face-Book website:
"Paying for optimized impressions is the best way to achieve your goal if you’re advertising a Page, event or app. It ensures your ad and sponsored stories will show to the people who are more likely to take the action you want".
Face-Book has a few different plans you can choose from and here is another plan they have:
"The only way to pay for clicks is to select See Advanced Options in the goal section. This setting for experienced advertisers lets you configure your ad and sponsored stories, including setting a maximum bid per click".
Here is an ad that I could run if I wanted to pay for it on Face-Book.
