FINAL POST!

I did learn a few things in the class that I am taking in regards to social media because I am a US ARMY Veteran taking a few classes at Mira Costa using the Holy GI Bill and Post 9/11 GI Bill.
As I have said before a lot of the sites we did review and go over do not really relate to Americans
like myself that are trying to break into the music industry because a lot of the sites we did review
do not let you upload your videos or upload your music.
I did get a solid business idea as I have stated before about using constant-contact or another monthly
e-mail newsletter because a weekly or a monthly newsletter is an outstanding business idea for
my start-up business named:
AMERICAN VETERAN PRODUCTIONS.
We really did not go into great detail about you-tube and myspace and reverb-nation and a lot of
other sites that only deal with music but that is ok because some of the other sites that we did
talk about I can use them for advertising musical songs if and when I ever get the financial budget
to run my business full-time!
One of my songs and videos below as you know is called "Soldiers Do Cry" and trying to advertise
for that song and trying to promote that song needs in many ways to be stream-lined to sites
where musicians and engineers and producers and song-writers go to and once again here is the video
for the song:

The monthly newsletter idea or the weekly newsletter idea that you talked about in the class
as I stated above is one of the business ideas that I will take with me as I continue to be
an Army Veteran and a small business owner.
Every business owner is different in some-ways and a lot of the sites that we did talk about
our late to the music scene so I don't really think about them a lot because they are not the respected
names in the music industry.
What I did get from the class is to be constantly using some form of social media to advertise and to
promote your business so I will keep social media on my brain and use different sites to promote
what I am working on in regards to AMERICAN VETERAN PRODUCTIONS!

AMERICAN VETERAN PRODUCTIONS

As the owner of American Veteran productions I use a few different sites that we did not
really cover in the class to promote my musical songs and musical videos. As I have stated
before I use Myspace and Reverb-nation a lot because they are recognized as two of the industry
leaders where musicians and musical producers and engineers do connect with each other. Some
of the sites we have used thus far do not allow me to upload music and upload music videos so
I will use the sites only to promote my latest works. The one idea as I have mentioned before that we covered in the class that I will implement into my plan is the idea of using the monthly e-mail
newsletter from the site at:
Constant Contact
Some of the sites we have covered in the class like Twitter, Linkedin, Pinterest and Instagram
are not sites considered by musicians as the industry leaders related to music but the sites can
help in promoting the latest projects of musicians so I will keep them all in mind as I finish each
music video I am working on.
Only a few sites like You-Tube allow you to upload your music song and your music video
so I will continue to focus a lot of my time using the options that You-Tube has for musical singers
and musical song-writers. Once I am done uploading my musical songs and music videos on You-Tube I can then use most of the other social media tools we have discussed to post a new message that I have a new musical project that has been released.
I have a day job paying my bills like most over-taxed Americans so I can only spend a minimal
amount of time on my start up business named American Veteran Productions. If I ever get
blessed and can run my business full-time I will spend 12 hours a day and most days of the week
promoting my latest musical releases using most of the sites we have covered thus far in the class.
Besides trying to find new customers to buy your product there is no other task you or I should
be doing except for promoting our business. If I had 12 hours a day to work on social media advertising I would spend the majority of my day using most every major social media outlets
that are available on the world wide web.
As for now because I have a day job and because my budget is horrible I can maybe spend an
hour or two most days finishing up projects, and then trying to promote them using the various
social media sites that we have access to here in the year of 2013!
I have chosen to use Myspace and You-Tube because they allow me to upload musical videos
and musical songs, and not every-site we have covered allows you to upload a musical video.
If I have time in the next month GOD willing and CHRIST willing I will dedicate a lot of my time
to my song called:
SOLDIERS DO CRY

My time that I can spend on the project might be limited because I have a day job but if I do
get time I will finish signing up for my monthly e-mail advertising account; and I will begin
advertising by using my monthly newsletter sending out my newsletter to every person
that I know in the music industry.
I don't blog as a part of my business because I only blog for fun so scheduling out blog posts
has nothing to do with my business plan.
A lot of my social media advertising plan will be linked to my monthly newsletter because if the right
person in the music industry likes the songs that I have included in my monthly newsletter I will
not need to advertise a lot because the music industry has power-full advertising budgets once they decide that they like a song and a music video.

Class Review

As the owner of a music publishing company and the owner of a song-writing company some of
the material we did cover in the class really does relate to my business but that is ok
because some of the sites we reviewed gave me an idea or two.
As I did say in a previous post here are the main sites I use to contact with other singers and song-writers
and music publishers:
www.myspace.com/kevinmichaelferguson
www.americanveteranproductions.com
www.reverbnation.com/brainmenders
http://thenashvilleuniverse.com/profile/KEVINMICHAELFERGUSON

Reverb-Nation and Myspace are huge sites for music makers to connect with each other and to exchange
material with each other.
After we reviewed Twitter and a few of the other sites they have no way to upload music and upload
music videos and that is the main part of my business.
The one idea that you did have that I did like that works for my business and any business is the monthly
e-mail advertising idea:
http://www.constantcontact.com/index.jsp
As I said in a previous post:
As the owner of American Veteran Productions I do see a certain benefit of having a monthly newsletter.
I could let music publishers and let music engineers know and let musical singers know what projects I have completed.
I did enjoy trying out the constant-contact monthly e-mail advertising, and it is the one idea from this class
that I can take with me in regards to using the e-mail advertising on a weekly or monthly basis.
I can use Twitter and some of the other sites we discussed on a less frequent basis because I don't make
Music Videos every-day so when I do make a new Music Video I can use Twitter and some of the other
sites to send a message and link to my latest project.

You-Tube is a big forum for music makers and it would be nice at least for music business
owners in the class if it was covered more so that music business owners can work
on projects that would help their business out.
Like I said I did enjoy talking about the monthly or weekly newsletter idea so I will implement
that into part of my business plan.

Face-Book analytics

As you know I have no respect for Face-Book and their owners
so I only check my account in regards to assignments for this
Post 9/11 G.I. Bill class that I am taking at Mira Costa.
I did review the activity for the week for my site on Face-Book
dealing with my business American Veteran Productions.
I did review the analytics and the insights area on my account,
and there was no new activity.
The lack of activity on my Face-Book account I am not concerned with
because I have other sites that I use to promote my song-writing
and music publishing company.
When I did review my Face-Book page I did not see a single note
or a change in activity in any-way, and that is most likely because I seldom log into that account and put any work in on that site.
Here are my main sites that I use to promote my business:
www.myspace.com/kevinmichaelferguson
www.americanveteranproductions.com
www.reverbnation.com/brainmenders
http://thenashvilleuniverse.com/profile/KEVINMICHAELFERGUSON

The business of running a music song-writing company is different in some ways
than other business types in America, and in many ways my business is the same.
I need one singer to love one of my songs and that is all I need or I need one huge music
publisher to love one of my songs and that is all I need.
Face-Book is late to the music party because a lot of company's have been around for over
40 years in regards to music.
Face-Book is not recognized as the industry leader in regards to music and that is one of the
many reasons I don't use their site so I was not shocked to see a lack of activity on my
account this week.
I am not slightly concerned about my lack of activity on Face-Book because I have all of
my songs uploaded all over the internet and now I need to find the right connection
in the music industry to get one of those songs in a Movie, TV show, or on the Radio.

This video above for "SOLDIERS DO CRY" is the main part of my business day when
I get free time from my day job.
Of all the ideas we have worked on in the class the one that makes the most sense for my
business is your monthly e-mail advertising idea because I can send a monthly e-mail with video
links directly to music publishers and to singers and music producers and music engineers.
My lack of activity this week on Face-Book I am not stressing about it because I know
my other web-sites have finished projects that singers can look at and all I need is one
singer to love "SOLDIERS DO CRY" or one of my other songs.
I e-mail singers directly and I e-mail music publishers directly in hopes that they will take
one of my songs for their projects.

Google Business Analytics

A lot of people don't understand the business dynamics of a musical-song writer's life as a small
business owner and that advertising is extremely un-important in many ways because a musical song-writer has one business focus at times and it is as follows:
find a singer and a music publisher that loves the song you did write.
Singers and music publishers can be sent an e-mail directly and they could care less if you have certain
Google features or other advertising features from other company's.
I don't think a lot about Google Business Analytics because they let me upload my music videos and
music songs for free as long as I pay my Verizon Internet Bill as I have stated before.
The videos I do have online I send direct messages to singers and music publishers to see if
they will listen to the song that I have written.
Here is what I did find while doing some research about Google Business Analytics
and I found the information directly from their web-site about
Why AdSense:
"Protect the value of your brand and make sure your users have a positive experience by choosing how ads are displayed on your site. You can block those you don’t want to appear, and manage how your ads are shown by choosing which ad formats you'd like to accept. You can also customize the look and feel of your ads to match your site".
If I could find advertisers that wanted to be on my web-sites that would be incredible as long as I had control over who I allowed on my site and Google allows you to control who is on your site and I did find this
information some-what interesting on Google's business analytics page:
"Access Google's vast advertiser pool without having to maintain individual relationships.
More advertisers means:
  • More competition for your ad spaces
  • More relevant ads
  • Ads for all your online content"
If I could get advertisers vying for spots on my web-page I might cry tears of joy and I know
I would thank Almighty GOD and Jesus Christ for the revenues that advertisers could
make for my business:
AMERICAN VETERAN PRODUCTIONS

I will continue to look at ways to improve by business model and Google might have a few
ideas that I can use including those mentioned above.
